Turbine blades in aircraft turbine engines:
High-pressure turbine section: can reach 20,000 to 50,000 revolutions per minute (RPM).
Low-pressure turbine section: about 3,000 to 10,000 RPM.
Industrial gas turbines:
Single-shaft heavy-duty gas turbines: generally between 3,000 and 15,000 RPM.
Light-duty gas turbines and aero-derivative gas generators: may go up to 30,000 RPM.
Steam turbines:
Large steam turbines for power plants: low speeds of about 1,500 RPM (50 Hz region) or 3,600 RPM (60 Hz region).
Small or medium-sized steam turbines: can run at around 5,000 to 12,000 RPM.
Automotive turbochargers:
May run at high speeds of 100,000 to 250,000 RPM.
