Stellite cobalt-based alloys consist of complex carbides in the alloy matrix. They are resistant to abrasion, abrasion and corrosion and retain these properties at high temperatures. Its excellent wear resistance is mainly attributed to the unique inherent properties of the hard carbide phase dispersed in the CoCr alloy matrix.
Stellite 25 is a tungsten-reinforced cobalt-chromium alloy that is a cast version of the forged alloy L605 and is also available in hard-faced wire, rod, and powder. This special low-carbon alloy was found to have excellent resistance to thermal fatigue and could be used in tools for machining hot steel. The alloy also resists hot metal-on-metal wear.
Stellite 25 is typically used in metalworking tools such as piercing points, forming tools, extrusion dies and furnace hardware where a combination of metal-to-metal wear, thermal fatigue and hot corrosion resistance is required.
