Hastelloy C-2000 (N06200, 2.4675) Hastelloy Overview:
Hastelloy C-2000 (N06200, 2.4675) Hastelloy is a nickel-based high-temperature alloy composed of nickel, molybdenum, chromium and other elements, with a nickel content of approximately 55%.
Hastelloy C-2000 Hastelloy C-2000 was developed as an optimized alloy to expand the range of applications of the material. It started with a conceptual idea to add copper to the already well-established Ni-Cr-Mo alloy. Since its introduction to the market in late 1995, it has continued to receive tremendous recognition, thanks to its inherent versatility. Technical innovations not only improve the alloy's resistance to water corrosion, but also expand the overall application scope of the Ni-Cr-Mo family alloys. This new material is designed to resist more corrosive chemicals, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and hydrofluoric acid. Unlike previously optimized Ni-Cr-Mo alloys that can only resist oxidizing or reducing acids, C-2000 Hastelloy has corrosion resistance in both environments. The combined effect of molybdenum and copper (at levels of 16% and 1.6% respectively) gives the alloy excellent resistance to corrosion by reducing media, while the high chromium content (23%wt) ensures resistance to corrosion by oxidizing media. .
From an engineering perspective, C-2000 Hastelloy offers significant potential for increased production. When used in the place of the original Ni-Cr-Mo alloy, its enhanced corrosion resistance can lead to longer equipment life under the same material thickness and a higher safety factor under more severe conditions. The improvement of corrosion resistance in all aspects allows the equipment to be used for multiple purposes (reactors, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, etc.), thereby receiving a greater return on investment. For example, a reactor can be adapted to a hydrochloric acid mixture. , and then transform into another working condition of nitric acid-based mixed liquid. Due to the multiple capabilities of C-2000 Hastelloy, it is the best nickel-based alloy material that can adapt to a variety of processes. C-2000 alloy expands the use range of Ni-Cr-Mo alloy in various corrosive environments, and has excellent corrosion resistance to oxidizing media and excellent resistance to reducing environments. The excellent performance of C-2000 has caused a breakthrough in the application of chemical industry equipment.
The high chromium content is used to resist corrosion from oxidizing media such as iron ions, copper ions and dissolved oxygen. Reducing media, such as dilute hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, require high molybdenum + tungsten content. Limitations in metallurgical stability make it impossible to optimize both simultaneously. Hastelloy C-2000 alloy solves this alloy design dilemma.
The high chromium content combined with molybdenum and copper results in sufficiently excellent resistance to corrosion in reducing environments without sacrificing metallurgical stability. C-2000 alloy exhibits superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion than C-276 alloy, which is the industry standard. Its forming welding and machining properties are similar to C-276. C-2000 alloy is available in various shapes: plates, sheets, forging billets, bars, wires, welding rods and pipes. The forged products are final solidified Solvent heat treatment leaves the factory, unless the customer has special needs. Hastelloy C-2000 alloy has been listed in ASME and ASTM standards B-564, B-574, B575, B619, B-622, B-366. The DIN standard number is No.2.4675, and NiCr23Mo16Cu. The unified UNS number of C-2000 alloy is N06200, but there are stricter composition controls during production to improve performance.
